A Bit About Anne

At the tender age of 8, Anne embarked on her lifelong journey into the world of horse riding. Growing up in the picturesque market town of Lanark, she developed a deep and abiding connection with nature, nurtured by her adoptive father. He imparted to her a love for the outdoors and a respect for the harmony between humans and animals. This idyllic childhood, however, was marked by a profound loss when Anne was just 12 years old. The passing of her adoptive mother was a significant turning point in her life, casting a shadow over her once carefree days.

In the wake of this tragedy, Anne's path took a new direction. She was sent to live for a time at the Tao Ha riding school in Carluke. This change, though initially daunting, provided Anne with a sanctuary where she could channel her grief and energy into riding. The instructors at Tao Ha recognised her innate talent and passion for horses, helping her refine her skills and deepen her understanding of equestrian practices.

By the time Anne reached 15, her dedication and burgeoning talent had opened new doors. She became a working pupil under the guidance of Mr. and Mrs. MacFarlane at the prestigious Scottish Equitation Centre near Dunblane. This was a transformative period in Anne's life. Under the MacFarlanes' expert mentorship, she honed her riding techniques and gained valuable experience in stable management and horse care. The rigorous training and structured environment further fueled her passion for the equestrian world.

Upon reaching the age of 18, Anne was eager to broaden her horizons and explore new opportunities within the equestrian community.

She ventured into various yards, seeking to expand her knowledge and experience. Each new setting provided her with unique challenges and learning experiences, allowing her to grow both as a rider and as an individual. Her journey through these different yards was characterized by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a deep-seated love for horses that had been instilled in her from a young age.

Throughout these formative years, Anne's journey was marked by resilience and a steadfast commitment to her passion. From the early days in Lanark to her time at Tao Ha, and through her pivotal experiences at the Scottish Equitation Centre, she continuously sought to improve and evolve. Her story is one of perseverance, transformation, and an unwavering bond with the equestrian world. There is of course much more to the story.
